Speaking in Congress
NEO Restoration Alliance is an advocacy organization, and we have represented and spoke on behalf of urban farmers and local food entrepreneurs at a Senate Sub-Committee Meeting in Washington, D.C. and a Farm Bill Listening Session in Burton, Ohio, at the request of Congresswoman Marcia Fudge Representative of the 11th District of Ohio.
During 2010, as we were connecting with various entities in the community, we developed a relationship with the Famicos Foundation and collaborated on a Re-Imagining Cleveland grant. As the relationship with Famicos grew,NEO Restoration Alliance was contracted to assist with the development and management of their Farmers’ Market…Gateway105. The market was established and started July 2011 and NEO Restoration Alliance will be entering our 6th year of managing the market in the summer of 2016.
Come out and join us every Friday from June through the end of September. We have fresh local produce, much of which is grown locally.

First graduating class of League Park Market Garden
NEO Restoration Alliance is committed to training and development of the human resources in our community, and we have conducted numerous workshops and multi-week trainings. In 2011 we conducted a training program in the St. Clair/Superior neighborhood, with funding from Neighborhood Connections. Their training included growing, harvesting, and selling produce, basic work ethic practices and employability skills, such as interviewing and resume preparation. Five participants started and completed the training and received stipends throughout the sessions to encourage their attendance.
Year two for League Park and Gateway 105 brought more opportunities for training and collaboration. During the warm spring months, four of the previous year’s students returned with reports of employment (a husband and wife), completion of freshman year in college, and two that wanted to continue their learning at the farm

Working with Glenville High School
NEO Restoration Alliance and Famicos designed and implemented the Table, Set… Go Program to encourage youth engagement in the Cleveland Sustainability 2019 plan. The spring 2012 program encouraged teachers and students from the Glenville High School Science department to investigate and prepare presentations for general public awareness. The topics selected by the students showed various sustainable methods used to grow food. Each student group was responsible for table preparation and presentation
First Rain Garden and ClearLake Farm
Since the initial project conception, and commencement, the mission to reclaim lives and land in our region has grown. The initial projects; student designed and installed rain-gardens and creation of ClearLake Farm (an urban farm designed for training and demonstration) engaged hundreds of students and adults during the first two years.

The student engaged rain-garden installation projects involved three different student groups. One group, 7th and 8th graders from Captain Arthur Roth School, designed and installed a rain-garden on their school grounds. A second group, The Golden Ciphers, a youth mentoring and community service organization installed a rain-garden at ClearLake Farm located at a drug treatment center for woman, Hitchcock Center for Women (HCFW). The third student group, Citizenship Institute (a leadership development program) installed a rain-garden near Doan Brook along the back parking lot of the Hitchcock Center for Women. The funds for these projects were made available by the Soil and Water Conservation District of Cuyahoga County.
